Begin Again: The Monday Morning Fresh Start

Warm Lemon Water + Detox Smoothie



Monday = a clean slate, time to start again! I always jumpstart my nutrition and eating regimen on Mondays with these two things. It's a great way to wake up, rejuvenate, reset, and cleanse! 

1. Warm Lemon Water

This is actually something I do everyday (and you can too!) as soon as I wake up. Simply squeeze the juice out of 1-3 lemon slices - depending on size. While doing that I run the faucet on warm water and then fill er up! You could also get fancy and boil some water, there are honestly only so many minutes in the morning rush though! 

Yes, I have ran out of lemon before and bottled lemon juice (like that you would use for cooking or baking) works fine too. One time I tried the juice of a clementine and I would NOT recommend that idea so much to anyone, ever. Yuck.


What are the BENEFITS of doing Warm Lemon Water?

It it takes literally ONE MINUTE to make and drink this baby! One note, the citric acid in the lemons can damage the enamel on your teeth, so make sure to brush your teeth after drinking!

2. Detox Green Smoothie

This is a once-a-week thing for Matt and me. 9 times out of 10 its on Mondays, but every once in awhile we will have this after a REALLY bad cheat meal the night before (holidays, birthdays, etc.) 

Here's what you will need:
- Handful of Ginger Root
- Handful of Any Greens (spinach, kale, or cucumbers)
- 1/2 Banana
- About 8 oz. Coconut Water
- 1 teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 Ice Cubes

Blend everything together and enjoy immediately! If making ahead of time, put in the refrigerator and shake REALLY WELL before drinking.
